Some help promoting your games

I hope this is the correct section, if not, please forgive and move it to the right one?

That being said, my partner and I have a new game portal coming online soon. Here is how it works:

This is only for the originating authors or sponsors of games. The game's page on your server gets listed in our database. Not the game itself, the page it gets played from. The script feeds them out almost as if it were an arcade, but instead of playing the game from our server, or hot linking through an embed code, the game is played from your own website, it's own page. Our site feeds out a page with frames which includes your page.

The top frame has some ads to help pay for our hosting, a link to report a bad link, a link to put the game into their favorites on my site, and a link to remove the frames(taking them directly to your site).

The bottom frame is the page on your site that the visitor would play the game on, as if they had gone directly to your website. It displays your ads, banner exchanges, etc.

Some are already starting to recognize this system as having been done with huge success in the past with a couple sites that have routed huge amounts of traffic to the participating arcades this way.

When the site is finished, the rules will be simple:
1) Only the author or sponsor can submit. The originating author gets first dibs on submitting it. If they can not be ascertained, and more than one sponsor submits it, the first sponsor will usually get it. Only one instance will be accepted. This is NOT for any old game you downloaded and put on your site. If you didn't develop it, sponsor it, etc, you can not submit it.

2) We ask for no frame breaking code on your site. We are coding it into our site to set it up so that the visitor can click on a link and do away with the frames, taking them directly to the page on your site. This gives the visitor the choice of adding your game to his favorites list on our site so that when they return they can easily find it through our site as well. Your own ads and banner exchanges will be shown, so you are losing nothing by this, but gaining traffic by advertising through our site. We feel this is not a burden, and a very small price to pay for the extra advertising you will be getting.

3) No adult anything on your page. We don't care if you don't have a problem with it or not. If our advertisers have a problem with it, we have the problem, and it will be taken down. We won't play games with this.

4) We require you to use a real email address when registering, if you are going to be submitting games for this promotion. No, we have no desire to SPAM you, we hate it ourselves, but if there is a problem with your game/site and we can't get ahold of you, it will get removed. Again, we can not afford to play games with this. We just need to be able to get ahold of you if there is a problem, that's all. If you choose to opt in, there is a newsletter that may get sent out from time to time, but you have to choose to subscribe from inside your profile. It is NOT automatic, it is purely voluntary/opt in.

For members who are just looking for games to play, we do not require a real email address. However, we are also working on such things as a forgotten password system, which only works if you have supplied a real address.

5) A sitewide/front page link back to us. This is also not a burden on a webmaster for getting some promotion.

6) We could add or modify these terms as we see fit. You either accept them, and any changes, or you can't participate.


We hope to take it live in a couple days time. We have already bought and paid for some ad space from Foxy, and expect to have more lined up soon. This means that while we are not hitting the ground running, we are at least walking. This is done on purpose for various reasons, including that the search engines seem to have a preference for sites to grow at a natural rate. What ever that means.

This is a great deal for those who have developed or sponsored games. It has helped gain huge amounts of traffic in the past for those game owners who have participated in this type of thing. If you would like to give it a try, submit your games, then PM me for the URL for the next couple of days till we get it public. Once that happens, I can post the URL in this thread rather than make you PM me. We don't want to make the current URL public just yet as it will disappear when we take it live.

OK, a quick update. The new portal went live, and is now in beta. The site is Gamers Go!

You are invited to register an account and submit your games.

There are a few things we are still working on, and some features not yet made public, such as the blog and forum.

The question has come up whether we can manage an account for somebody and enter their games for them. Short answer is yes, long answer is we can handle doing so for a few, for a while. When things start to get really busy we might have to scale back doing so though. We would still require you to abide by the rules, including the link back, valid email address, etc, and we would need to know your password, along with all the info on the games you wish entered.

We have already started some ads for it, and will be looking for more ad spots. If you have any you would like to sell, please feel free to contact us with the pertinent info.

If you have suggestions, something that might perhaps make your life as an arcade owner easier maybe? Please pass them along.
