Image Verification

This is more like question to admins...
Is this "image verification" really necessary ? I know ..spamming ... but ... ... or this is only for newbies (like me) - something like yahoo mail does until it gets persuaded its the human and not the bot...

Humans are welcome here, but still bots try to spoil our life. The capture helps here.

It is really hard to read without glass's for me. It would be good if you just had a hard one to register with and then remove this one. Might work the same with less hassle to all the humans.
